Our Designers
“Function follows form”
Following the famous quotation from the design world „Function follows form”, we decided to define aesthetic shapes and comfort as our starting point. Only then do we determine the technical requirements for our proven functions. That’s why most of our furniture has practical and sometimes astonishing functions which you can’t easily recognise at first glance.
We work together with successful designers from the furniture industry, such as Joachim Nees, Jan Armgardt, Jörg Wulff and Thomas Müller. They bring their unique visions and creativity to each of our projects, resulting in innovative and stylish furniture. Their work is known for high quality, multifunctionality and aesthetic appeal, which is highly valued in the private and public sectors.
Further designs are developed in-house in collaboration with our experienced product development team of creative minds and gifted craftsmen and craftswomen.

Joachim Nees
Joachim Nees actually wanted to become a civil engineer because he was interested in bridge construction. But after the Aschaffenburg native completed the first part of his diploma at the Technical University of Darmstadt, he attended an exhibition about industrial design.
The topics and exhibits left a lasting impression on him and consequently he changed the field of his study. Joachim enrolled on the industrial design program and successfully graduated. But what exactly is important to Joachim Nees about industrial design? He attaches great importance to quality in terms of design and materials. “I’m always happy when a successful feature complements the purpose of a furniture piece like a light bulb”, said Joachim Nees.
That’s why he added the much-quoted phrase “Form follows function” to his own philosophy. Mr Nees takes into account people’s needs and creates unique furniture from that point instead of only shining with extravagant designs. This means the user of the furniture is always at the centre of his design work. “People are the measure of all things” that go beyond purely ergonomic considerations. He takes a relaxed and open approach to new ideas, driven by a healthy dose of curiosity. His success speaks for itself: renowned design prizes such as Red Dot Design Award, IF Design Award, the German Design Awards and the Interior Innovation Award (Best of the Best) demonstrate the high quality of his work.

Jan Armgardt
Jan Armgardt (born in 1947 in Celle/Germany) is a trained cabinetmaker and also studied interior design.
In 1974 he set up his own design studio (called Jan Armgardt design furniture and conceptual design agency) in the German village Schondorf am Ammersee.
Since 1970 he has founded a number of small businesses including Beedesign, Workshopdesign and Armgardt Demountable Furniture in order to directly sell his products.
