Our story – A great idea becomes reality
1990
Signet was born
Founded by Carola and Gerald Klimke as a small family business.
1993
“Shoe Factory”
Moved to “Shoe Factory” in the German village of Burgkunstadt. Since then our furniture has been showcased in the historic building.
1994
First trade exhibition
Our first trade show was at Ambiente in Frankfurt.
1997
Certified
Became a member of the German Furniture Quality Association and awarded the golden M seal.
1998
Second trade exhibition
Our first participation at the international furniture fair in Cologne (“IMM Cologne”), followed by further exhibitions.
1999
Relocation
At the end of the millennium, Signet relocated its headquarters to the German village Hochstadt am Main, which is still our headquarters today.
2010
Prestige design awards
Signet has since won a large number of design awards.
2011
Expansion
Our production and storage facilities were tripled in two construction phases.
2020
New company owners
At the turn of the year, the company was sold to the current owners Thomas Schlosser and VR Equity Partner.
2021
Environmental awareness
Signet became a certified climate neutral manufacturer.
It all began over 35 years ago with a dream.
And with a few very real questions that drove us. How does design work? How do you combine the sensory with the practical? Furniture with personality, equipped with high functionality and uncompromising quality—is that possible? It was. Traditional craftsmanship and a deep passion for authentic design gave rise to a concept; the ideas took shape in the truest sense of the word: in 1990, our first recliners were manufactured, and Signet was born.
What began with the production of a few sofas grew into a life’s work, driven by his values and the people around him. We grew slowly, almost cautiously, and what started as a two-man operation evolved into a medium-sized company with a product range covering seating, lounging, sleeping, living, and contract furniture. A regional leader that makes a difference. And sets the standard.
We are immensely proud of it and want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Our success is not only based on figures. It is the sum of our customers’ positive feedback and their enthusiasm as well as our company values and our tiny pinch of craziness.
